Where We Are:
We are located in Dawsonville, Georgia, at the very southern end of the Appalachian Mountains. We travel throughout the North Georgia mountains and down to the Atlanta suburbs for our photographic subjects.
Our Photographer:
George is a young photographer who has been excited about photography since he took the $15 which he had saved to buy his first camera, a Kodak Disc 3100. Well, 20 something years and hundreds of rolls of film later (and not a few of those tiny film discs either), George is still passionate about photography. He is continually working to refine his artistic eye and his technical mastery of the photographic process in order to produce for his customers the best possible results.
Our Philosophy:
When it comes to photography, there are many different ideas floating around these days. With the proliferation of quality digital cameras and photo-editing software, the photographic world often seems to divide itself into two camps: [1] the 'progressive' camp of photographers who embrace the digital world and all of its convenience and [2] those who pride themselves on being 'old-school' who will only use film and darkroom enlargers to produce their prints.We don't claim to be in either of these two groups. We believe that there is a solid 'real' quality to photographs made in the old methods, and there is a lot of enjoyment that can come from such activities, but in the end, a photograph that's pleasing to view is the desired result. Whether we achieve that by digital means or in a darkroom is largely inconsequential. We seek to provide a quality product for our customers using whatever method best suits their requirements.
One of the dangers of photography which has become more common because of the convenience of digital photography is the idea that 'if I take enough pictures, I'll get one that looks good'. Our philosophy here at g.s. photography is one of quality and using sound photographic technique along with artistic vision in order to obtain the best shots with a minimum of undesirable pictures.
